Jember Peasants Staged Rally 2006

Commemorating the national peasants day, about 1,000 landless farmers from diverse villages that have been gathered in the district level association of Independent Peasant Association (Sekti) staged street action in front of the local district council building on September 24, 2006, to demand that the government return the land formerly owned by the peasants but taken away by the state-owned farm (PTPN).

The government, however, does not heed the peasants' demand.
